JEFFERSON CITY, MO MARCH 17, 2008 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $110,600 grant to the Village of Glen Allen in Bollinger County. The village will use funds to build a wastewater collection and treatment system.
Currently, the village relies on residential septic systems. The new wastewater system will eliminate 135 septic systems.
The grant funds come from a $50 million bond sale in November 2007, which funded Governor Blunt's Clean Water Initiative for water and wastewater improvements. The funds will be used in conjunction with grant and loan funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program and the Department of Economic Development Community Development Block Grant Program. The project is estimated to cost $857,100 and is expected to be completed this year.
The Department of Natural Resources will administer the grant funds. For more information, contact the Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or call 800-361-4827 or 573-751-1192.
