DEPARTMENT APPROVES VERTICAL EXPANSION OF
FRED WEBER SANITARY LANDFILL IN ST. LOUIS COUNTY

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 7, 2008 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has approved a request for a permit modification of the Fred Weber Sanitary Landfill in St. Louis County.  The permit modification is a vertical expansion of the site that will raise the elevation of the landfill approximately 75 feet while adding 2.9 million cubic yards of air space.

The sanitary landfill site is located in the Village of Champ at the southwest corner of the intersection of Interstate Highway 70 and the Outerbelt Highway 270, north of Creve Coeur Mill Road, and east of Earth City Expressway.  The legal description for the landfill is the U.S. Survey 282 of Township 46N, Range 5E, St. Louis County.

Fred Weber Inc. requested the modification on May 11.  The Department of Natural Resources is required by law to review requests and ensure that landfills are constructed in a manner that protects the environment and those individuals who live near the site, both now and in the future.
