JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 27, 2008 -- The Missouri Clean Water Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m., July 2, at the Courtyard by Marriott Columbia, 3301 Lemone Industrial Blvd., Columbia.
At the meeting, the commission will hold a public hearing on the draft Regulatory Impact Report on the proposed revisions to the state Water Quality Standards. The purpose of the hearing is for interested parties to provide verbal comments that the department will consider before presenting the draft proposed rule to the commission. The Regulatory Impact Report identifies the regulatory and scientific basis for the rulemaking as well as the costs and benefits, impacted entities and the risks associated with the rulemaking. For a copy of the report, visit www.dnr.mo.gov/env/wpp/rules/wpp-rule-dev.htm.
The commission will also discuss the Administrative Hearing Commission's recommendation on the MOARK Productions Inc. permit appeal. Several petitioners appealed the department's Nov. 1, 2005, construction permit issued to MOARK. The Administrative Hearing Commission has issued a recommendation to the Clean Water Commission. The commission may decide at the meeting to take action on the recommendation. The commission can adopt the recommendation, change the findings of fact made by the Administrative Hearing Commission or vacate or modify the recommended decision.
The commission will have a full agenda of other administrative matters, including informational presentations and staff updates. For a complete agenda, visit the department's Web site at www.dnr.mo.gov/env/wpp/cwc/index.html.
