VAN METER STATE PARK IS JULY 20

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 7, 2008 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting on Sunday, July 20, to discuss issues related to Van Meter State Park near Miami. The meeting is 2 to 3 p.m. at Missouri's American Indian Cultural Center within the park.

Representatives from the department and park staff will be on hand to provide information about the park and answer questions. Topics of discussion will include the progress and plans for future American Indian cultural exhibits. Visitors are invited to ask questions and share comments about the park and its facilities. Refreshments will be served.

The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on state parks and historic sites.

Van Meter State Park is located 12 miles northwest of Marshall on Highway 122 in Saline County.
