The Missouri Heritage Properties Program helps spur economic development in communities across the state by providing grants for the preservation of important National Register-listed or National Register-eligible properties that currently cannot benefit from other development tools such as the state and federal tax credits. The program is administered by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' State Historic Preservation Program and funded with monies from the Missouri Historic Preservation Revolving Fund.

The program gives priority to county courthouses, which serve as the center for political and governmental life.

Eight of the grants awarded in the first round are for construction activities and four of the projects are for feasibility and planning activities.

First round construction grants are as follows:

Saline County Commission, Marshall, $90,000 for roof repairs to the Saline County Courthouse
Livingston County Commission, Chillicothe, $40,510 for exterior tuckpointing to the Livingston County Courthouse
Nodaway County Commission, Maryville, $90,000 for rehabilitation of the bell tower of the Nodaway County Courthouse
Newton County Commission, Neosho, $19,500 for roof repairs to the Newton County Courthouse
Pettis County Commission, Sedalia, $60,487 for tuckpointing and masonry repair to the Pettis County Courthouse
Pemiscot County Commission, Caruthersville,$53,900 for electrical upgrades to the Pemiscot County Courthouse
City of Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau, $70,000 for upgrades to the Common Pleas Courthouse
Dunklin County Commission, Kennett, $34,564 for electrical upgrade to the Dunklin County Courthouse

First round planning and feasibility grants are as follows:

Adair County Commission, Kirksville, $20,000 for a feasibility study of the Adair County Courthouse
Ralls County Commission, New London, $8,050 for a feasibility of the Ralls County Jail and Sheriff’s Office
Hickory County Commission, Hermitage, $5,635 for a feasibility and structural analysis of the Hickory County Courthouse
Bates County Commission, Butler, $7,350 for a structural analysis of the Bates County Courthouse

Callaway County Commission, $43,000 to replace the roof on the Callaway County Courthouse in Fulton
Carroll County Commission, $26,737 to rehabilitate the attic floor, attic windows and decorative clocks as well as refinishing of the decorative woodwork in the east interior doors of the Carroll County Courthouse in Carrollton
Carter County Commission, $100,000 to replace an existing roof on the Carter County Courthouse in Van Buren
Cass County Commission, $80,000 to repair the roof in the second floor courtroom of the Cass County Courthouse in Harrisonville
Clay County Commission, $100,000 to replace with historically accurate window replacements all of the original windows in Clay County Courthouse located in Liberty
Cooper County Commission, $32,711 to carry out interior repair and rehabilitation work on the Cooper County Courthouse in Boonville
De Kalb County Commission, $57,900 to rebuild the deteriorated stone steps on the north and south sides of the De Kalb County Courthouse in Maysville
Daviess County Commission, $100,000 to replace the electrical system in the Daviess County Courthouse in Gallatin
Jasper County Commission, $70,000 to continue the upgrades of electrical system of the Jasper County Courthouse in Carthage
Lawrence County Commission, $98,000 to upgrade the wiring and electrical system of the Lawrence County Courthouse in Mount Vernon
Madison County Commission, $69,650 to replace the existing roof on the Madison County Courthouse in Fredericktown
Pike County Commission, $58,179 to perform masonry repairs including tuckpointing, repair of cracks and recaulking, on the Pike County Courthouse in Bowling Green
Ray County Commission, $65,800 to carry out masonry repair and exterior cleaning of the Ray County Courthouse in Richmond
Scotland County Commission, $28,485.00 to restore the clock tower of the Scotland County Courthouse in Memphis

Howard County Commission, $9,500 to prepare a structural study of the historic Howard County Courthouse in Fayette
Johnson County Commission, $25,000 to develop an Historical Building Assessment and Feasibility Study for the Johnson County Courthouse in Warrensburg
Ripley County Commission, $15,400 to create an architectural plan with drawings and specifications detailing the restoration of the Ripley County Courthouse's original central clock tower, a significant architectural element of the building that was destroyed by a tornado that struck Doniphan in 1929
Webster County Commission, $25,000 to prepare a Master Plan for the Webster County Courthouse in Marshfield
